Me unprepared? Preposterous! |

This one is on me. The snow has kicked my butt this week. Between the kids being out of school altogether or having two hour delays and the roadway chaos generated by infrequent snow drivers, I’ve been discombobulated.
As a result, it seems I went to a meeting unprepared. The prospect came as a referral...
so I didn’t have to do my normal research to make the prospecting call. The time I set aside to perform my due diligence was eaten up by the aforementioned snow confusion and I had to go to the meeting without being prepared. Ick!!!! Luckily I know something about their industry and was still able to ask some decent questions, but I could have done a better job and that makes me mad. We are all our own worst critics, and I am no exception. Because of the referral, I came to the opportunity highly recommended, which apparently covers up a multitude of sins because I was able to advance the sales process and have a meeting in two weeks to present a solution. However, I remind myself that this could have easily gone the other way. I would have embarrassed not only myself, but the client who made the recommendation.
Sometimes, the measure of our ability is determined by what we do with our own mistakes. How do we rescue ourselves? How do we turn disaster into opportunity. Anybody can win with the best horse in the best position, right?
Anybody want to share their last mistake and how they overcame it?
