The DIG Peer Group originated with several members from Peer Group 1.2 the brainchild of Rab Govil, PODi’s President. In 2005 Caslon, the management company for PODi, created a group of companies focused on realizing marketplace opportunities and creating a standard for growth and profitability in the blossoming digital services sector of the printing industry. Executives from eight companies met quarterly for two years perfecting their equipment and service mix, technology infrastructure and formulating strategic and marketing plans. Members realized both revenue and profitability growth, and made tremendous strides in identifying key markets and developing sales teams capable of creating value for clients. After two years, Caslon passed the mantle to the facilitator, Kate Dunn, an industry pioneer who had both worked on the original format for the peer group with Rab, and Mike Chiricuzio, and also facilitated the program since its inception. The group meets three times annually, typically in conjunction with other industry events, like DMA or at one of the member locations. During other months, there is a one-hour group conference call and each firm has an additional hour of one-on-one consultation with the facilitator allowing them to work on company specific issues. The group develops agendas for meetings and conference calls and the facilitator is responsible for finding outside resources to provide the information requested by the group.
Firms present successful case studies to their peers at each meeting, as well as, financial information allowing members to hold each other accountable for reaching strategic objectives.
Participation is limited to one firm per geographic region of the country. Currently group members are located in Connecticut, Michigan, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania. Cost for membership is $7,500 per year, which is, billed quarterly. Members are responsible for their own travel expenses. Each firm must make a one-year commitment to membership. All participants sign mutual non-disclosure agreements upon acceptance into the group.
