Glazed, frosted, or sprinkled. They all tasted good to the 83,000 Twitter followers and 3.4 million Facebook fans that enjoyed a free doughnut on National Doughnut Day thanks to Dunkin’ Donuts.
Striving to expand its business nationwide, the company was able to reach both extremely loyal and new coffee customers in celebration of the June 3rd holiday, originated 73 years ago by the Salvation Army during the Great Depression. Spurred on by a chance to win a $50 gift card, loyal and new customers participated in a trivia contest, which helped promote the “free doughnut with a beverage” offer to their networks.
What have you offered lately using social media? Before this holiday season begins, consider doing promotions via social media. Whether selling products or services, you can engage followers and get them to spread your story, without spending a lot of dough!
