It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. ~Harry S. Truman

Act
Consider the following. We humans are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others' actions. We survive here in dependence on others. Whether we like it or not, there is hardly a moment of our lives when we do not benefit from others' activities. For this reason it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others. ~The Dalai Lama

Work
Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Accordingly a genius is often merely a talented person who has done all of his or her homework. ~Thomas Edison

Testing to Improve the Effectiveness of Your Email Marketing Campaigns
By: Wendy Lowe, Camapaigner, Director of Product Marketing

Here are a few key points that I thought I'd pass along concerning email marketing campaigns.

Why is testing important?

  • See what is working and what is not working
  • Make educated decisions (tracked and measured over time)
  • Learn more about your audience
  • Increase conversions
Six Steps for Testing Emails
  1. Set objectives (What are you trying to accomplish?)
  2. Develop a testing plan (What elements are you testing and when?)
  3. Test (A/B Testing or Multivariate Testing)
  4. Track and analyze
  5. Tweak for next send
  6. Repeat (Adopt a testing philosophy!)
Suggestions for what to test in your email marketing campaign: subject lines, from email address and from name, offers or calls to action, send time, day of the week sent, creative copy, creative layout, landing pages, etc.

Make sure that when you are testing emails, you are tracking your results and implementing what you have found into future campaigns. Don't do all the work without making any changes. Use what you have learned and execute it in the future.
