It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. ~Harry S. Truman

Consider the following. We humans are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others' actions. We survive here in dependence on others. Whether we like it or not, there is hardly a moment of our lives when we do not benefit from others' activities. For this reason it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others. ~The Dalai Lama

Work
Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Accordingly a genius is often merely a talented person who has done all of his or her homework. ~Thomas Edison

Taking Your Email Marketing from Average to Awesome

While this webinar was a little more basic than most, I thought it reiterated a lot of great points that I thought I would pass along to you as a friendly reminder...

Social Media vs. Email Marketing

Social Media Pros
  - innovative
  - low costs
  - viral growth
Email Marketing Pros
  - reliable
  - proven ROI
  - experience
Social Media Cons
  - less proven ROI
  - resource intensive
  - hard to hit critical mass
Email Marketing Cons
  - list costs
  - getting harder
  - not viewed as innovative
While both social media and email marketing can be effective on their own, the key to success is to include them both so they can build off of each other (when sending emails, direct them to follow you on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook, etc. or tweet the competitive advantages of your company and suggest white papers or webinars). When the two are integrated together, your company will have a better chance of achieving higher conversions.

The 3 Weaknesses of Email Marketing
1. weak creative (trite, poorly executed ideas)
2. weak offers (canned, less-than-irresistible appeals)
3. weak list usage (bad lists, poor selections)

To have an effective email, you must:
- gain attention
- intrigue your audience
- pull in their desires
- get them to act
